Transporting Prescriptions
Once you obtain your prescriptions and all the important documents, it's time to pack it up. Packing it can be as important as obtaining them. You wanna make sure that when you pack your prescriptions in a luggage that they can be easily inspected if questioned. You don't want the security to be pulling out all the clothes covering your medicine right before your flight.
Ensuring Success
1. Pack all your prescriptions into your carry-on luggage. If you are unable to fit them in your carry-on, pack the important ones in your carry-on and the rest into your check-in luggage. If you are carrying insulin or something that needs to be kept cold, make sure to pack them in a small stryofoam cooler with gel packs (not ice or dry ice). Some airlines do not allow you to check-in styrofoam coolers, so they must be brought with you as a carry-on.
2. Pack a copy of your doctor's note and any other important documents (e.g. Yakkan Shoumei) in the bags that are carrying your prescriptions. Pulling out a copy where it is convenient can expedite the screening process.
3. Carry all the originals (Doctor's note and any other important documents) on your person at all times until you reach your final destination. Make sure that you also have copies with you. If anybody asks to keep the documents, you can give them the copies.
